I understand your concerns. The “town-gown” divide between fee-earners and support staff can make it very difficult to establish relationships. That said, I definitely go the extra mile for people who go the extra mile for me — whether or not they have a law degree. There will also always be a barrier between fee-earners and support services. I'm not saying there aren't some good example of people who "have fun" with fee-earners one of my colleagues does exactly that but she was a fee-earner previously.
